How can I purchase a MicroFridge if the college/university I attend is not listed?
How long is the rental agreement?
MicroFridge rentals can be for the full academic year or for a single semester. Please visit your school’s rental page for details.
Will you deliver and pick-up my MicroFridge rental unit? How much does it cost?
Yes, we will deliver and pick-up all MicroFridge rental units to your room. There is no charge for the delivery and pick-up of rental units.
Will my MicroFridge unit be in my room when I arrive at school?
MicroFridge will make every effort to have your rented or purchased MicroFridge unit in your room by the first day of class. Please do not bring perishable food or items with you to school. MicroFridge will not be responsible for any food items which spoil prior to the unit arriving.
How will I know what to do with my MicroFridge rental unit at the end of the academic year/semester?
Instructions on returning your MicroFridge unit and pick-up dates will be provided to you at the end of the year/semester.
Can my roommate(s) and I send MicroFridge separate payments for a rental unit?
No, we ask to receive only one payment for the rental unit.
I have been unable to contact my roommate to coordinate who should order our MicroFridge rental unit. What happens if both of us rent a MicroFridge unit?
MicroFridge will provide a full refund to either you or your roommate in the case of duplicate orders. Simply call us at 800-637-7567.
I have yet to receive my residence hall or room assignment. Can I still order a MicroFridge unit? How will you know where to deliver it?
Yes, you may place your order. Please call 800-637-7567 as soon as you receive your housing information. We will need your residence hall and room number to deliver your MicroFridge unit.
What happens if I change rooms?
If you change rooms within the school year, you must notify us immediately. We will update your records and move your MicroFridge rental unit to your new room at a fee of $30 US/$43 CDN. You cannot move the rental unit yourself.
Is my MicroFridge unit safe for the environment?
All of our MicroFridge units are ESTAR® rated and are designed to conserve electricity. Our patented Safe Plug™ Technology uses half the electricity of separate appliances and reduces circuit overloads in group-living situations, such as college or university residence halls.
Will my MicroFridge freezer actually keep food frozen?

At this time, your school might not offer a MicroFridge with 1st Defense™ Smoke Sensor as part of the rental program. What happens if my MicroFridge rental unit requires maintenance?
During the term of your rental agreement, MicroFridge will repair or replace your MicroFridge unit at no charge except in the case of theft or vandalism. Please contact our Customer Care, 800-637-7567, team to report any problems you might experience. Our office is opened Monday-Friday from 8:30 AM-5:00PM (EST).
How do I defrost my MicroFridge unit?
Follow these 5 easy steps to manually defrost your MicroFridge unit:
- Reset the thermostat to the “0” position and disconnect the power supply.
- Remove the frozen food from the appliance and place it in a cooler for protection.
- Leave the door open long enough to soften the frost so that you can easily scrape it off.
- Use a plastic scraper but be careful not to damage the inner surfaces of the freezer.
- Wipe up the scraped off frost and ice before it is completely defrosted.
